IFEOMA ISABELLA OZOMENE OKEKE – SYNW YOUNG WRITER OF THE MONTH (SEPTEMBER 2020)

 

Ifeoma Isabella Ozomene Okeke is a female writer from Isseke, Ihiala Local Government, Anambra state.

She has written a lot of Stories; Novels, Scripts and Short stories. A former Nollywood actress who had used the connection she had when acting to write Scripts for Nollywood producers and Cartoonist.

She is yet to publish her book in hard copy but you can find her works on Okadabooks. She has two pages where she post her interesting stories and a group (65+) where she allow others writers to showcase their talent of writing.

Ifeoma popularly called, Omaisabella, by her fans enjoy writing stories mostly paranormal fantasy and epic stories.

In her words; 'I was born a reader not a Writer but writing discovered me.'

All through my secondary school I was told that I would never get anywhere if I didn’t stop daydreaming about what I read. Eventually it occurred to me to write down my daydreams, and hey! The ladies and men in my head came to life. In my story, no One Is Ugly because We Are Not Ugly.

"I believe in a happy ending and will always work toward making one happen in all my stories and in real life."

Fubaraibi Benstowe – SYNW Young Writer of the Month (September 2020)

 

FUBARAIBI BENSTOWE – SYNW YOUNG WRITER OF THE MONTH (SEPTEMBER 2020)

 

Fubaraibi Benstowe hails from Bonny Kingdom, Rivers State Nigeria, He attended the Niger Delta University in Bayelsa State, where he obtained a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

His poetry has been published in Praxis magazine, Afripoet.com, African crayon, Nigeria/South-Korea Poetry anthology, Mariner ANA Bayelsa literary Magazine and other publications. In 2014 he was a guest poet at the Ake Art and Book Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State, was first runner up in the Eriata Eribhabor Poetry competition and a top ten finalist in the Africa-Wide BN Poetry Award based in Uganda in 2014.

Furthermore, Fubaraibi is a recipient of the certificate of excellence from the Girl Child Creativity Concept of Zimbabwe in collaboration with the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (2013). He continues to write and explore his creativity in diverse forms. His poetry focuses on social sanity, injustice, celebration of Africa people, etc. He is currently working on his debut poetry collection.

Albert Afeso Akanbi – SYNW Young Writer of the Month (September 2020)

 

ALBERT AFESO AKANBI – SYNW YOUNG WRITER OF THE MONTH (SEPTEMBER 2020)

 

Albert Afeso Akanbi was born in Nigeria on 31 March, 1982. A writer & filmmaker, he holds a B.Sc. in Economics from Delta State University, Abraka, a certificate in filmmaking from High 

Definition Film Academy, Abuja, Nigeria and participated in the 2017 RNTC Media institute in the Netherlands Persuasive Storytelling and Journalism programme. 

 

One of his short stories was among 50 selected from 38 writers representing 16 countries that appeared in the African Book Club’s maiden anthology The Bundles of Joy and Other Stories 

from Africa published in the United State of America in 2014. As an alumni of the Sangam House International Writers' residency in India, his creative piece on the subject of dance and the writing craft was among the over 44 works selected from over 40 writers cut across 3 continents that appeared in the Vol 3 of the Sangam House reader, Other Windows, published in India in early 2017. 

 

His short story That Sunday Afternoon won the maiden WordMaster Writers’ Challenge competition in May, 2015.

 

In 2018 he released two e-books, Urushi and Other Stories from Ososo and Christians and Muslims: A Collection of Articles to critical acclaim. 

 

In 2019, he released a picture book and a documentary film, both of them to critical acclaim, about Ososo, the scenic town of streams and rocks caught in-between the undulating Somorika 

hills of southern Nigeria. 

 

His op-ed articles appear frequently in a handful Nigerian media platforms. He is the author of OSOSO: Our Place, Our People & Our  Patrimony, The Edge of Patience, Cold Black Night and November 5. 

He is a father.

 

Bernice Adebimpe Oyeleke – SYNW Young Writer Of The Month (August 2020)

 

BERNICE ADEBIMPE OYELEKE – SYNW YOUNG WRITER OF THE MONTH (AUGUST 2020)

 

Bernice Adebimpe Oyeleke was born on the 11th September, 1989 into the family of Pastor and Mrs L.A. Adekeye. She is the third child out of four children the union was blessed with.

 

She had her primary education at Adesola Nursery and Primary School, Alakuko, Lagos State. She proceeded to Ebenezer Comprehensive High School, Ijaiye Ojokoro where she completed both her junior and senior secondary school education.

 

She became deaf while awaiting the junior WAEC through the illness , Meningitis,  she suffered from in June, 2002. Nevertheless, she carried on with her secondary education at the same regular school and completed it in 2005.

 

She commenced her first degree program at the University of Ibadan, Ibadan in September, 2007. She studied Special Education / Chemistry. She graduated with a CGPA of 6.7/7 as a first class graduate.

 

She had her masters degree on VC scholarship as a university scholar at the same University of Ibadan.

 

In 2014, she took up a Federal government appointment as Education officer under Federal Ministry of Education.

 

She got married to her heartthrob on Thursday, 3rd September, 2015.

 

She serves as National   Treasurer of Deaf Teachers Association of Nigeria since 2015 till date. She also serves the same association in the capacity of Chairperson of School Competition Planning Committee.

 

She initiated the Deaf Nigerians Profile in September 2019, a medium through which she enlightens people about deafness, deaf education and sign language awareness through publishing interviews with people who are deaf but successful.

 

She founded Luminous Deaf Scholastic Initiative in 2019 to contribute to the development of Deaf education in Nigeria. The NGO has floated some educational and novel programs till date.

 

She writes for Inclusive news network on people with disabilities issues. She is the author of the novel, LUMINOUS, an eBook available for free download via selar.co/luminousbk.

 

She has facilitated in both virtual and physical program with Deaf students mostly as audience.

 

As a research student she has some papers on Deaf education to her credit.

 

Bamidele Timothy Odedele – SYNW Young Writer of the Month (August 2020)

 

BAMIDELE TIMOTHY ODEDELE – SYNW YOUNG WRITER OF THE MONTH 

(AUGUST 2020)

 

Bamidele Timothy Odedele was born some years ago to the family of late Reverend Samuel Morolayo Odedele and late Mrs. Cecilia Onaloyin Odedele of Balogun compound, Edunabon, the west boundary of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Nigeria. He started his academic pursuit at Community Primary School, Ayekale-Agugu, Ibadan; graduated from Lagelu Grammar School, Agugu, Ibadan; S and J College, Owode-Orile, Lagos; bagged Diploma in Christian Education from  Ibadan North Anglican Bible College; acquired Pan-African Liberation International Project certificate in Food Nutrition and Agricultural practices; became trained, qualified and certificated teacher at Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, Oyo State (N.C.E., Education for the Gifted and Talented and Social Studies), added first degree (B. Ed. Special Education and Political Science), second degree (M. Ed. in Special Education: Gifted and Talented) and Certificate of Computer Proficiency in University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.

Dele Odedele started his teaching career from private Nursery school in 2001, moved to government primary school in 2010, post primary schools Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Oyo State in 2014, and became lecturer in 2017 in the Department of Education for the Gifted and Talented, School of Special Education, Federal College of Education, Special, Oyo, Oyo State, Nigeria. He is a prolific writer and author. He has published books for Basic one to nine, Senior Secondary Schools, Churches, and Organizations; written several national and international articles and made chapter contributions in professional journals and textbooks. Five of his books were approved for all schools by Ministry of Education, Oyo State, Nigeria. He has attended a number of national workshops, seminars, conventions and conferences.
